The bright spots on both arms of this impressive SBb spiral galaxy are H II regions and sites where new stars are forming. Cutting through the galaxyΓÇÖs central bulge are two dark dust lanes. The two lanes, although they look like spokes stabbing into the galaxyΓÇÖs center, actually curve around it.
